Social studies is a compilation of many subjects including economics, geography, history, law, politics, and some social sciences and humanities. This field of study develops a student’s understanding of who they are.
It shows students their identity within their local, national, and global communities. Students learn about Canadian heritage and explore the various spaces, cultures, and social attributes of the area that they live in.

From Grade 7 and beyond, social studies becomes more about history and geography. Social studies is an important yet interesting field of study, as it teaches students about their history and about how the world around them functions.
